Portia Taylor
Executive Director & Founder
Illinois
Portia is the visionary founder and Executive Director of Overcome Together Foundation. Her personal journey became the foundation for the organization's mission. She holds a Master's degree in Public Policy from Drexel University with a concentration in nonprofit management, and her research focused on government and nonprofit support for children and families impacted by incarceration.
"This mission means the most to me because I found that through pottery and poetry I was able to work through my big and frustrating emotions that came with my father's incarceration when I was six years old. I wish to be an example that we, as children impacted by parental incarceration, do not have to be defined by our parents' mistakes and we don't have to go down those same roads."
